Description
A practical shoulder strap or guitar pouch holder
UBI is a unique product. Practical shoulder strap or possibly guitar pouch support that promotes postural well-being and maximum potential for artistic and technical expression.
In general, with the "UBI" support, the guitar is stable, but can follow every interpretative movement of the guitarist, who benefits from the total freedom of finger movement due to the relaxation of the cervical muscles and the unloading of weight toward the elbows, factors that promote a measured use of forces in the ideal looseness of the joints.
Not least, it is aesthetically unobtrusive and manageable and in harmony with the instrument.
In addition to the model made of elastic material, we will be able to meet personal requests for more luxurious versions, handcrafted in wood as one-of-a-kind and made-to-order pieces. The "lutherie" version is made of cedar on the measurements of one's guitar.
UBI can be used in various ways:
Standing position at the shoulder strap
.For this position a suction cup is added to the shoulder strap to keep the guitar stable and at the desired angle.
Sitting Shoulder Strap Position
UBI rests ideally on the guitarist's legs and provides balance, with the shoulder strap promoting stability. With UBI, the posture is balanced and symmetrical. In addition to the postural advantages that still provide stability and freedom of movement for the guitarist, the shoulder strap posture is also comfortable and streamlined.
Strap posture
This posture is ideal for prolonged study. Simply shorten the belt, and in addition to instrument stability, proper posture of the lumbar area is invited.
The pouch effect invites optimal support of the lumbar muscles and is especially good for prolonged study.
The three positions have in common the pursuit of the best physical balance, without twisting and straining that might limit the fluency of movements.
Not having to exert forces to hold the instrument allows you to focus your energies on the technical and interpretive aspects.
Practical tips
The guitar with UBI can, as mentioned, assume different positions. Its pliability makes it possible to define the degree of inclination of the instrument.
The practical suction cup with which the strap is equipped can be placed at different heights on the guitar's lower strap. Once the desired inclination has been found, one of the adhesive plastic hoops protecting the guitar's paintwork can be applied and the suction cup applied.
For sitting posture on the shoulder strap, the suction cup may give added stability, but it may also not be necessary since UBI rests on the guitarist's legs, already providing excellent stability.
For standing posture, on the other hand, the suction cup is necessary and provides stability and freedom of movement. By resting the suction cup on the straps, the same is compressed by the activity of the strap ensuring tightness and adherence. You then simply place the guitar on UBI and locate the desired inclination of the instrument, then secure with the suction cup.
For sitting and fanny pack posture, you need to shorten the strap according to your needs. It is recommended to lay UBI on the legs first and then close the snap buckle.
UBI is a company that is the brainchild of Carlo Frigerio, a classical guitarist who has been active for more than 35 years as a concert performer, lecturer and promoter of the classical guitar, and who has taken up his need and that of many guitarists to be able to embrace the guitar as the artistic dimension requires, overcoming the problem of instrument stability. The UBI product represents the breakthrough and solution to this problem, and the company is dedicated to the production and marketing of this innovative and revolutionary product. After several years of research and development, we are now presenting the product in its final version, which will have several variations to suit the required situations. UBI is a Swiss product designed and manufactured in Ticino. Each piece bears the "UBI" logo and the Swiss Made mark. European Patent: EP22153502.4
For a long time guitarists have used the footrest or "step" for this purpose, an object that despite technical evolution has not been improved. Yet, this solution creates postural and back health problems. There are alternatives, of course, but UBI represents a new solution that has two specificities: the foothold and balance. This avoids problems related to stability and promotes both postural and artistic needs. Nowadays, the increased attention and sensitivity to musicians' health and well-being lead us to rethink the way we hold the instrument to achieve optimal hand mobility and balanced distribution of forces.
This is possible by creating precisely a guitar stand and a quest for balance. Features summarized in the product name The Latin expression "ubi cōnsistam," literally translated, means "give me a foothold." Abbreviation of the motto attributed to Archimedes: "Dā mihi, inquit, ubi cōnsistam, et terram commovēbō" (Give me a point of support and I will lift the world), alluding to the property of leverage.
