Its director, professor Marc de Smet obtained his medical degree in Canada. He is board certified in Canada, the United States, and Europe. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada, Royal College of Ophthalmologists of the UK, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
