My professional activity was in line with my passion, as I worked as an export manager for two well-known manufacturers of coffee machines and thus had regular contact with restaurateurs, coffee roasters, coffee traders and coffee importers.
During my first trip to South Africa in 1998, together with my wife, I fell in love with the country and its people. Ten years later, my wife and I decided to emigrate to the land of our dreams, at the southern tip of Africa. In Knysna, a small tourist town on the famous Garden Route, we took over a small coffee shop and roasted coffee there, initially for our own use. Due to the many positive feedbacks from our guests, we expanded the production and sold our coffee at local markets and also delivered to the local gastronomy.
Ten years later, we returned to Switzerland for family reasons and looked for a suitable location to set up a small craft roastery. The term "craft roastery" refers to small roasteries where coffee is roasted by hand with a lot of love and know-how. We found this in an empty laboratory room in the former chemical factory in Uetikon am See.
According to the motto "Coffee, good coffee is our passion" we are now roasting coffee specialties in small quantities for the gastronomy and of course for private frahling lovers with high demands in the "RöstBar - die Kaffeemanufaktur" in Uetikon am ZĂŒrichsee with a traditional drum roasting machine of the South African manufacturer "GENIO Roasters".
